LIN8-8070 : Interoperability between the version of TIPC in WRL8 and previous versions is broken

Created: Oct 27, 2017    Updated: Dec 3, 2018
Resolved Date: Feb 2, 2018
Found In Version: 8.0.0.22
Fix Version: 8.0.0.25
Severity: Severe
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 8
Component/s: Kernel, Userspace

Description

Interoperability between TIPC 2.0 and 1.7 is broken. The customer needs to upgrade nodes on a network one at a time.

From the TIPC documentation:

TIPC 2.0 is designed to interoperate with nodes running TIPC 1.5/1.6/1.7, as long as all nodes belong to the same cluster. This interoperability allows an existing TIPC 1.5/1.6/1.7 cluster to be expanded to include new nodes running TIPC 2.0.

Interoperability seems to have been broken by this commit

It removes a section of the code intended to receive the broadcasted NAME_DISTRIBUTOR received from pre-2.0 TIPC.

Back in 2011, the code evolution was aware that NAME_DISTRIBUTOR had to be handled by the broadcast receiver.
