CVE-2023-4863 Heap buffer overflow in libwebp in Google Chrome prior to 116.0.5845.187 and libwebp 1.3.2 allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory write via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical) -- Sep 12, 2023 10.19.45.30 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-3341 The code that processes control channel messages sent to `named` calls certain functions recursively during packet parsing. Recursion depth is only limited by the maximum accepted packet size; depending on the environment, this may cause the packet-parsing code to run out of available stack memory, causing `named` to terminate unexpectedly. Since each incoming control channel message is fully parsed before its contents are authenticated, exploiting this flaw does not require the attacker to hold a valid RNDC key; only network access to the control channel\'s configured TCP port is necessary. This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.2.0 through 9.16.43, 9.18.0 through 9.18.18, 9.19.0 through 9.19.16, 9.9.3-S1 through 9.16.43-S1, and 9.18.0-S1 through 9.18.18-S1. -- Sep 20, 2023 10.19.45.30 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-4504 Due to failure in validating the length provided by an attacker-crafted PPD PostScript document, CUPS and libppd are susceptible to a heap-based buffer overflow and possibly code execution. This issue has been fixed in CUPS version 2.4.7, released in September of 2023. -- Sep 22, 2023 10.19.45.31 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-42753 An array indexing vulnerability was found in the netfilter subsystem of the Linux kernel. CVE-2023-42669 A vulnerability was found in Samba\'s rpcecho development server, a non-Windows RPC server used to test Samba\'s DCE/RPC stack elements. This vulnerability stems from an RPC function that can be blocked indefinitely. The issue arises because the rpcecho service operates with only one worker in the main RPC task, allowing calls to the rpcecho server to be blocked for a specified time, causing service disruptions. This disruption is triggered by a sleep() call in the dcesrv_echo_TestSleep() function under specific conditions. Authenticated users or attackers can exploit this vulnerability to make calls to the rpcecho server, requesting it to block for a specified duration, effectively disrupting most services and leading to a complete denial of service on the AD DC. The DoS affects all other services as rpcecho runs in the main RPC task. -- Oct 11, 2023 10.19.45.31 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-4091 A vulnerability was discovered in Samba, where the flaw allows SMB clients to truncate files, even with read-only permissions when the Samba VFS module acl_xattr is configured with acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes. The SMB protocol allows opening files when the client requests read-only access but then implicitly truncates the opened file to 0 bytes if the client specifies a separate OVERWRITE create disposition request. The issue arises in configurations that bypass kernel file system permissions checks, relying solely on Samba\'s permissions. -- Oct 11, 2023 10.19.45.31 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-45853 MiniZip in zlib through 1.3 has an integer overflow and resultant heap-based buffer overflow in zipOpenNewFileInZip4_64 via a long filename, comment, or extra field. CVE-2023-45145 Redis is an in-memory database that persists on disk. On startup, Redis begins listening on a Unix socket before adjusting its permissions to the user-provided configuration. If a permissive umask(2) is used, this creates a race condition that enables, during a short period of time, another process to establish an otherwise unauthorized connection. This problem has existed since Redis 2.6.0-RC1. This issue has been addressed in Redis versions 7.2.2, 7.0.14 and 6.2.14. Users are advised to upgrade. For users unable to upgrade, it is possible to work around the problem by disabling Unix sockets, starting Redis with a restrictive umask, or storing the Unix socket file in a protected directory. -- Oct 18, 2023 10.19.45.30 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-38546 This flaw allows an attacker to insert cookies at will into a running program using libcurl, if the specific series of conditions are met. libcurl performs transfers. In its API, an application creates easy handles that are the individual handles for single transfers. libcurl provides a function call that duplicates en easy handle called [curl_easy_duphandle](https://curl.se/libcurl/c/curl_easy_duphandle.html). If a transfer has cookies enabled when the handle is duplicated, the cookie-enable state is also cloned - but without cloning the actual cookies. If the source handle did not read any cookies from a specific file on disk, the cloned version of the handle would instead store the file name as `none` (using the four ASCII letters, no quotes). Subsequent use of the cloned handle that does not explicitly set a source to load cookies from would then inadvertently load cookies from a file named `none` - if such a file exists and is readable in the current directory of the program using libcurl. And if using the correct file format of course. LOW Oct 18, 2023 10.19.45.31 (Wind River Linux LTS 19)
CVE-2023-5717 A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel\'s Linux Kernel Performance Events (perf) component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation.
