function_graph tracer may cause system hang on PPC and ARM with DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled. 

Disabling DEBUG_PREEMPT could workaround it.

Disable CONFIG_DEBUG_PREEMPT

On PPC or ARM target runs function_graph tracer with DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled.

# echo function_graph > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/current_tracer
