LIN6-9651 : WRL 6 installer image wont boot once the image has already been installed on the FS

Created: Mar 31, 2015    Updated: Dec 3, 2018
Resolved Date: May 11, 2015
Found In Version: 6.0.0.16
Fix Version: 6.0.0.20
Severity: Standard
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 6
Component/s: WR-Installer

Description

This is required for the HP Certification Project and should be treated as a high priority issue. Also found in 6.0.0.18 but that is not selectable in the dropdown for Found in Versions.

If I create an installer platform and install it on a x86 system that uses UEFI everything works the first time when the disk is partition free. However, trying to re-install the image by booting the installer image again the installer FS doesn't appear to mount instead the FS on the hard disk mounts. The only workaround I have is to delete the partitions and then the installer FS is mounted and I can re-install.

Workaround

Delete the partitions on the harddrive before re-installing, however this prevents the ability to upgrade.

Steps to Reproduce

1) Create an installer platform
2) Install on a UEFI system
3) Reboot and try to re-install on the same system.
