LIN6-8298 : Wind River Linux 6 Installed WRLinux target does not start on QEMU

Created: Sep 1, 2014    Updated: Dec 3, 2018
Resolved Date: Sep 11, 2014
Found In Version: 6.0.0.10
Fix Version: 6.0.0.12
Severity: Standard
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 6
Component/s: Target-Installer

Description

Failed to open rootfs of the installed WRLinux target with observing kernel panic.(Please see the attached snapshot.)
It seems mount position for rootfs is specified as /dev/sdx device by default GRUB configuration.
However expected mount position is /dev/hdx.
To let the target start normally, it requires correction of mount position manually.

Please fix it in order to start the target without any additional steps on "Wind River Linux 6.0 USER'S GUIDE".
Or guide customer to accomplish until starting target by "Wind River Linux 6.0 USER'S GUIDE" either.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Follow "Booting and Installing with QEMU" from p.363 till end of the section on "Wind River Linux 6.0 USER'S GUIDE".
2. Start the installed WRLinux target on QEMU.
$ make start-target TOPTS="-no-kernel -disk hd0.vdisk -gc"
