Created: Jun 25, 2015    Updated: Dec 3, 2018
Resolved Date: Aug 2, 2015
Found In Version: 6.0.0.17
Fix Version: 6.0.0.24
Severity: Standard
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 6
Component/s: Networking

Description

we see the following error in our log files:
Apr 15 13:38:59 localhost rpc.statd[1260]: Failed to insert: creating /var/lib/nfs/statd/sm/ws.localdomain: Permission denied
Apr 15 13:38:59 localhost rpc.statd[1260]: STAT_FAIL to m7674 for SM_MON of 10.29.250.3

According the following man page rpc.statd http://linux.die.net/man/8/rpc.statd is using the following directory:
/var/lib/nfs/statd/sm
directory containing monitor list

But this directory is not created:
root@m6933:/etc/init.d> rpm -qf /var/lib/nfs/statd/sm
root@m6933:/etc/init.d>

But instead the following directory is created:
root@m6933:/etc/init.d> rpm -qf /var/lib/nfs/sm
nfs-utils-client-1.2.8-r1.0.x86_64
