We found that with recent changes to kernel, hpsa driver doesn't work any more since 60025. This is a common issue for core linux 6.0, but as hp machines must use installer to deploy rootfs, so I think installer project is a good starting point for investigation.
The system hangs or crashes on hpsa driver init, see picture attached. But if adding "intel_iommu=off" to installer's boot line, everything works.
I've noticed that there are some changes to iommu/dma/networking/ixgbe recently, not sure if they are related.
No this issue with 60020.
Adding "intel_iommu=off" to bootline, but this impacts dpdk and customer doesn't accept this.
1. configure a target cgp project (or any other x86-64 project):

2. configure installer's project:
/net/pek-lpdfs01/pool/wrlinux_installs/wrlinux-60025/wrlinux-6/wrlinux/configure --enable-reconfig=yes --enable-jobs=20 --enable-parallel-pkgbuilds=20 --enable-internet-download=yes --enable-board=intel-x86-64 --enable-kernel=standard --enable-rootfs=wr-installer --enable-target-installer=yes --enable-distro=wrlinux-installer --with-installer-target-build=/projects/1020/60025/build/cgp --enable-bootimage=iso --with-template=feature/wr-hp-support,feature/wr-x86-server
You might see some build error of installer due to kernel changes, please apply attached 3 kernel patches as well before building.
