The tzdata recipe in WRL6 does not mark the /etc/timezone file and /etc/localtime link as configuration files. An on target update would then overwite the user modified versions of this file.
The customer fixed this locally by adding this line in a tzdata_2015b.bbappend but it would be good if this could be integrated into the stock tzdata recipe.
CONFFILES_${PN} += "${sysconfdir}/timezone ${sysconfdir}/localtime"
NOTE: The customer indicated that they are "using WRL6 RCPL20 and I'm updating to RCPL22, where the tzdata version is changed which then requires to rename the bbappend file to match, basically I need to rename the bbappend on almost each RCPL update."
