LIN8-12857 : systemd emergency/service does not echo complete message

Created: Sep 2, 2020    Updated: Oct 28, 2020
Resolved Date: Sep 21, 2020
Found In Version: 8.0.0.33
Fix Version: 8.0.0.34
Severity: Standard
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 8
Component/s: System Usecases

Description

After the system enters emergency mode, the console does not display the full text of the echo message from /lib/systemd/system/emergency.service.

Instead only "Welcome to emerg" comes out followed by the output of the sulogin:

Welcome to emergGive root password for maintenance

(or type Control-D to continue):

Attempts to add sleep -5 after the echo line resulted in the display of "Welocme to emerg" followed by 5 seconds of pause followed by the sulogin output.

Changing the console's baudrate from 9600 to 115200 did not change the observed behavior.

After logging in, type "journalctl -xb" to view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or ^D to Give

root password for maintenance

(or press Control-D to continue):
