LIN6-4556 : systemviewer/lttng doesn't report time correctly on tunnel creek HW

Created: Dec 10, 2012    Updated: Apr 19, 2018
Resolved Date: Apr 17, 2018
Previous ID: LIN4-14228
Found In Version: 6.0
Severity: Severe
Applicable for: Wind River Linux 6
Component/s: Kernel

Description

Timing in systemviewer log when collecting data from a tunnel creek based HW platform is off by a factor of 10.(intel eg20t pch) The test runs for ~10 seconds but systemviewer shows it as a 1.5 second test run.

Confirmed that two injected UST events, 5 seconds apart and injected manually and timed via wall clock, were present so the log buffer didn't wrap but the events show up within less than 1 second.

Steps to Reproduce

PROJECT:
Build a platform project using intel eg20t pch on wrlinux 4.3 RCPL 10
Add analysis feature template
Add UST support by using attached layer & template: "--with-template=feature/analysis,feature/LTTUserEvents --with-layer=/home/wruser/TSR/1183294/other_LTTUserEvents"
Build attached kernel module & application projects.

TARGET:
Load the kernel module via modprobe or insmod (ltt_us.ko)
Start systemviewer
run the application (EventLogTest.out)
Stop systemviewer
Look at timestamps in systemviewer radar which will show far less than the time in which the test ran.
