Created: Oct 10, 2025    Updated: Oct 22, 2025
Resolved Date: Oct 22, 2025
Found In Version: 10.24.33.1
Fix Version: 10.24.33.13
Severity: Standard
Applicable for: Wind River Linux LTS 24
Component/s: Kernel

Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:[EOL][EOL]mm/slub: avoid accessing metadata when pointer is invalid in object_err()[EOL][EOL]object_err() reports details of an object for further debugging, such as[EOL]the freelist pointer, redzone, etc. However, if the pointer is invalid,[EOL]attempting to access object metadata can lead to a crash since it does[EOL]not point to a valid object.[EOL][EOL]One known path to the crash is when alloc_consistency_checks()[EOL]determines the pointer to the allocated object is invalid because of a[EOL]freelist corruption, and calls object_err() to report it. The debug code[EOL]should report and handle the corruption gracefully and not crash in the[EOL]process.[EOL][EOL]In case the pointer is NULL or check_valid_pointer() returns false for[EOL]the pointer, only print the pointer value and skip accessing metadata.
