The Rolling Cumulative Patch Layer (RCPL) was developed by Wind River to simplify patch management of Wind River Linux.  The expected usage is that customers install the latest RCPL for their release.  Base Wind River Linux 4.0 + Update Pack 3 + RCPL is the default supported configuration.  Please install this RCPL at your earliest convenience.
The RCPL has new features that allow you to manage RCPLs by configuring projects and Workbench to use the RCPL of your choice. There is a tool, rcpl-cl.sh, that allows you to view the patch history of this RCPL compared to the base release. There is also a gui tool, rcpl-gui.sh, that allows you to examine RCPL releases before installing them. You can download the rcpl-gui.sh tar ball from:
support.windriver.com/olsPortal/faces/maintenance/downloadDetails.jspx
The README on this OLS page contains instructions on how to use these features, general information on the RCPL and a list defects fixed. The README should be reviewed prior to installation.
The list of defects fixed can be found in the README.txt

NOTE - 1) If you're having connectivity (firewall or network setup) issues, Wind River allows you to run the wrInstaller on a machine with Internet connectivity by downloading this update pack into a convenient location and then installing the content back onto the development machine. Follow these instructions:
2) On Windows hosts, you may notice some errors in the "setup.log" around "readlink" and "uninstall_mgr.sh". These messages can be ignored as they do not affect the running of the product. If though you should decide to un-install the product, there may be some error messages about changed files which the Installer will not remove. In this case, you can simply remove the remaining files and the installation directory manually.
